“If you can dream it, you can do it”- Walt Disney
This is something I see quoted on Tumblr A LOT. It makes me cringe every time. Why? Because Walt never said it, not once, not ever. And now we finally have hard proof, via Dave Smith.
Q: I heard that Walt Disney did not, in fact, ever say the famous quote, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Is that true? If so, who did say it?
Krystina, Avondale, Arizona
A: He never said this quote. If you check my book, Disney Trivia from the Vault, you can find the true story: “Despite its frequent publication, that is not a Walt Disney quote. We checked with Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald for the definitive answer: ‘I am very familiar with that line because I wrote it! It was written specifically for the Horizons attraction at Epcot and used in numerous ways, from dialogue in the ride to graphics. I find it amusing that the Science of Imagineering DVD series attributes it to Walt Disney, but I guess I should be flattered.’”
And this has been my nerd rant for the day.
OH MY GOD
OH MY FREAKING GOD
When the ducks were born Donald was the first thing they saw. They wanted the ducks to follow him, as they would a mother. This was for Donald’s 50th birthday, PETA would probably have a field day if Disney tried doing this today.
Wish I could find a better picture but you can see Donald with the baby ducks here:
Solving every bother, one smackeral of honey at a time. See you at the Pooh-litical debate!
Every election year Disney used to have elections on Main Street USA between Pooh Bear and Captain Hook. They would give you a ballot and you could vote. I miss that :(
No one will ever understand how much this ride means to me.
I love this ride so much! My family is cursed by it though haha, every time we go on it, someone loses something. I’m the only one who hasn’t yet….
One time my dad insisted on wearing his limited edition Yankees World Series Champions hat on the ride. We all told him not to. We have a lovely picture of the hat flying away, never to be seen again…
